Thoughts to the Wise
“He who heeds the Word wisely will find good, and he who trusts in the Lord, happy is he,” Proverbs 16:20
Happiness is rarely addressed in the Scriptures, possibly because human happiness is so dependent on what “happens” to us in life.
It is life’s tragedies that can so easily steal our happiness in a moment of time. But they can never steal our joy. This is because joy isn’t derived from what happens to us. but from whom we trust.
The apostle Paul spoke of having “Joy and peace in believing” (Romans 15:13), and no one can take our joy and peace away from us as long as we trust in Him who is faithful. Isaiah said that God will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3).
Happiness (for which the world is always strives) is a crystal vase waiting to be shattered. However, the joy of the Lord is the strength of the godly (Nehemiah 8:10). So, stay strong by having an unwavering trust in God.
Ask yourself: Do I have a reputation for handling matters wisely, or do my decision tend to stem from human “wisdom”?
Pray: Father, help me to handle life with godly wisdom. Amen
